I’ve learned to trust myself and my hands. A lot of the time, I’m in spaces that weren’t really made for me, so I’ve learned to move with quiet confidence and let the work speak for itself. I’ve also learned that the way I make things — slowly, carefully, with a lot of intention — comes from my culture and my upbringing. That’s not something I need to explain or tone down. It’s actually the part of my work that feels the most true. More than anything, I’ve learned that showing up, staying consistent, and making things with care is enough. That’s where the work feels honest, and that’s where I feel most like myself. Everything I make carries that same intention — that’s the heart of Bweza: to carry with care.

When I started Chidima Dezigns, I wanted to create pieces that celebrate culture while being useful in everyday life. I noticed a gap for thoughtfully made items — from home to fashion — that feel meaningful, wearable, and functional, not just decorative. I wanted to show that you can carry culture, care, and intention into your daily routines.

Yes — creativity has always been part of my life. My mother used to sew our clothes when I was younger, and watching her made creating feel natural. Sewing and making things with my hands has always been like a language I speak without thinking.

For me, success isn’t just about sales or growth — people notice the care and thought behind each piece. They use it, enjoy it, and feel a connection — not just as an object, but as something meaningful in their daily life.
